Valter Carrijo

Valter Carrijo SDS (born January 22, 1934 in Uberlândia , Brazil ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and former Bishop of Brejo .

Life

Valter Carrijo joined the order of the Salvatorians , made his profession on February 2, 1954 and was ordained a priest on December 8, 1961 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him coadjutor bishop of Brejo on January 18, 1989 . The Archbishop of São Luís do Maranhão , Paulo Eduardo Andrade Ponte , donated him episcopal ordination on April 15 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Mário Teixeira Gurgel SDS, Bishop of Itabira-Fabriciano , and Roberto Pinarello de Almeida , Bishop of Jundiaí .

When Afonso de Oliveira Limas SDS retired on September 25, 1991, he succeeded him as Bishop of Brejo. On May 5, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation.
