Mário Teixeira Gurgel
Mário Teixeira Gurgel SDS (born October 22, 1921 in Iguatu , Ceará , Brazil ; † September 16, 2006 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Itabira-Fabriciano .
Life
Mário Teixeira Gurgel joined the Congregation of the Salvatorian at and received on 29 June 1944, the sacrament of Holy Orders .
On February 20, 1967, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the titular bishop of Sesta and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Sao Sebastiao do Rio de Janeiro . The Archbishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro, Cardinal Jaime de Barros Câmara , donated him episcopal ordination on May 14 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were José Gonçalves da Costa CSsR , auxiliary bishop in São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro and the bishop of Patos , Expedito Eduardo de Oliveira .
On March 26, 1971, he was appointed Bishop of Itabira .
Pope John Paul II accepted his early resignation on May 15, 1996.
