Lélis Lara CSsR (born December 19, 1925 in Divinópolis , Brazil , † December 8, 2016 in Coronel Fabriciano , Brazil) was a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Itabira-Fabriciano .

Life

Lelis Lara joined the Congregation of the Redemptorists in and received on 2 February 1951, the priestly ordination .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on December 6, 1976 titular bishop of Cellae in Mauretania and auxiliary bishop in Itabira. The bishop of Itabira, Mário Teixeira Gurgel SDS , donated him episcopal ordination on February 2, 1977 ; Co- consecrators were José Gonçalves da Costa CSsR, Coadjutor Archbishop of Niterói , and José Brandão de Castro CSsR, Bishop of Propriá .

On December 6, 1995, Pope John Paul II appointed him coadjutor bishop of Itabira-Fabriciano. With the retirement of Mário Teixeira Gurgels on May 15, 1996, he succeeded him as Bishop of Itabira-Fabriciano. On January 22, 2003, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
