Expedito Eduardo de Oliveira

Expedito Eduardo de Oliveira (born January 8, 1910 in Pacatuba , Ceará , Brazil , † May 8, 1983 in Patos , Paraíba ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Patos .

Life

Expedito Eduardo de Oliveira received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Fortaleza on November 30, 1933 .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on October 1, 1953 titular bishop of Barca and auxiliary bishop in Fortaleza. The Archbishop of Fortaleza, Antônio de Almeida Lustosa SDB , donated him episcopal ordination on December 13 of the same year; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Mossoró , Elizeu Simões Mendes , and the Bishop of Caetité , José Terceiro de Sousa .

Pope John XXIII appointed him on February 25, 1959 first bishop of the diocese of Patos established a month earlier . The inauguration of the Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Armando Lombardi , took place on July 12 of the same year.

He attended the first and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father. In 1973 he was honored with honorary citizenship of Paraíba State .

Expedito Eduardo de Oliveira died of a heart attack and was buried in Patos Cathedral.
