Gerardo de Andrade Ponte

Gerardo de Andrade Ponte (born December 1, 1924 in Fortaleza , Ceará , Brazil , † May 25, 2006 in Fortaleza) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Patos .

Life

Gerardo de Andrade Ponte received on 8 December 1948, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on February 6, 1975 Bishop of Petrolina . He received his episcopal ordination on August 17th of the same year by the Bishop of Itapipoca , Paulo Eduardo Andrade Ponte ; Co- consecrators were the coadjutor Archbishop of Maceió , Miguel Fenelon Câmara Filho , and Manuel Edmilson da Cruz , auxiliary bishop in Fortaleza .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Patos on December 5, 1983 . On August 8, 2001, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.

His tomb is in Patos Cathedral.
