Valverde , also Valverde da Gestosa , is a place and a former municipality in northern Portugal .
history
The current place was probably founded in the course of the new settlements during the medieval Reconquista , probably in the 12th / 13th. Century by the Johanniter Hospital Order , which received this area.
Valverde remained a municipality in the Lamas de Orelhão district until it was dissolved in 1853. Since then, Valverde has been a municipality in the Mirandela district.
In the course of the regional reform in Portugal in 2013 , the municipality of Valverde was dissolved and merged with Barcel and Marmelos to form a new overall municipality.

Valverde was the seat of a parish of the same name ( Freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Mirandela in the Bragança district . The community had 144 inhabitants and an area of 17.59 km² (as of June 30, 2011).
The community only consisted of the eponymous place.
With the territorial reform of September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Valverde, Barcel and Marmelos were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Barcel, Marmelos e Valverde da Gestosa . Barcel became the seat of the new parish.
