Vale de Telhas is a town and municipality in northern Portugal .
Tourism is only slowly gaining importance here, on the one hand for the regional population, who are looking for relaxation here at the river swimming pool, and on the other hand for tourists from more distant places who travel individually , who mostly stay in small facilities of the rural tourism or on the campsite.
history
Presumably, people settled here on the Rio Rabaçal in ancient times. From Roman times, miliarium , signs and ruins have been found that indicate a Roman settlement on a local Roman bridge . A miliarium at the fountain in the village comes from the nearby Roman road ( Via XVII or Via Nova ), which led from Bracara Augusta (today Braga ) to Asturica Augusta (today Astorga ).
In the royal surveys under D. AFonso III. An already existing bridge is mentioned here from 1258, and as late as 1758 the parish priest mentions the existence of two Roman-looking columns as remains of the bridge next to the bridge that was newly built in the 17th century. In 1882 the historian Pinho Leal found three Roman gravestones ( cippos ) under the bridge , one of which bore legible Roman inscriptions.
