Abambres is a town and municipality in northern Portugal .

history

The originally Romanesque church of São Tomé from the 13th century, through later renovations with baroque elements #

Finds in the region suggest prehistoric settlement. The Romans mined ores in the area.

The current place was probably created during the settlement policy in the course of the medieval Reconquista . In the 12th century Abambres was already run as a community.
