Caravelas is a town and municipality in northern Portugal .

history

Finds prove a prehistoric settlement, in particular the Anta Anta de Caravela , a Mámoa that dates back to around 3000 BC. Was built.

The present-day village was probably created during the course of new settlements after the medieval Reconquista .

Caravelas is the seat of the homonymous municipality ( Freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Mirandela in the Bragança district . 214 inhabitants live in it on an area of 13 km² (as of June 30, 2011).

The municipality only includes the one village of the same name.
