The Van Reeth Glacier is a glacier in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . In the Queen Maud Mountains, it flows west to the Scott Glacier , which it reaches between Mount Blackburn and Mount Bowlin .
It was discovered in December 1934 by the geological team around Quin Blackburn (1900-1981) on the second Antarctic expedition (1933-1935) of the US polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1967 after Commander Eugene William Van Reeth (* 1927) of the United States Navy , squadron pilot in Operation Deep Freeze in 1966, 1967 and 1968 and squadron leader in 1969.
