biography

Jean-Pierre Vidal's sister, who is two years older than her, began her career at FIS races and in the European Cup . On March 12, 1995, she was able to win World Cup points for the first time, as 23rd of the giant slalom in Lenzerheide . She established herself in the midfield, but without attracting attention with outstanding performances, which is why she was downgraded several times by the coaches in the European Cup. The 1998/99 European Cup season she finished second in the slalom classification.

Only at the end of December 1999 did Vidal achieve a World Cup result among the top ten. At the World Cup final in Bormio on March 13, 2000, she achieved the best result of her career when she was fourth in the slalom. Seen all winter, she was the seventh best slalom runner in the world. Further top 10 rankings followed in the 2000/01 and 2001/02 seasons. At the 2002 Winter Olympics , she finished seventh in slalom. There were no further top results in the following years.

In November 2007, Vidal had to end her sports career. While training in Nakiska , Canada , she suddenly complained of severe chest pain. She had to be hospitalized in Calgary on an emergency basis, where doctors diagnosed a life-threatening pulmonary embolism .
