Węgorzyno (Kępice)

Węgorzyno ( German  Vangerin ) is a village in the Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . It belongs to the Gmina Kępice (Hammermühle municipality) in the Powiat Słupski (Stolper Kreis) .

The village is located in Upper Pomerania , about 175 km northeast of Stettin and about 120 km west of Gdansk .

By 1938, Vangerin formed its own rural community in the Rummelsburg district in the Prussian province of Pomerania . In 1925 there were 137 inhabitants in 35 households in Vangerin. Besides Vangerin, there were no named places to live in the community. On April 1, 1936, Vangerin was incorporated into the neighboring rural community of Börnen .

In 1945 Vangerin, like all areas east of the Oder-Neisse line , came to Poland. Vangerin received the Polish place name "Węgorzyno".
