Although Croatia at the World Junior Championships last year not for the Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2018 from Buenos Aires could qualify, the Croatians moved to the teams of Spain and Portugal after cancellations. The first group game against Mauritius was clearly won, Perenčević contributed one point to the victory. The Croatians also won the following two games against Russia and Taiwan and developed into a favorite for the title of this sport, which was held here for the first time as part of an Olympic tournament. After a defeat against the frequent competitor of previous years, Hungary, followed at the end of the preliminary round a victory against the team from American Samoa. Perenčević scored in this game against the big underdog, in which the defensive players had more room for offensive actions and Perenčević was used as a specialist, three times and scored six points. In the main round, the Croatians lost against two of the other title favorites besides the Hungarians, against Argentina and the Netherlands. In both games you lost in the shootout. In the highly competitive game against Argentina, Perenčević was one of three Croatians and two Argentinians who received a time penalty shortly before the end. The last group game against Paraguay was won again. Here Perenčević scored two goals for four points. It was the last two goals of the game and turned the 14-16 point deficit into an 18-16 point lead. That made her the match winner in the game. In the semi-finals, Croatia clearly beat the favored Dutch women with a win in both rounds. In the final, Croatia could not oppose the unleashed hostesses and lost 2: 0. With her team Perenčević won the first Olympic silver medal in beach handball. With 15 points she achieved the second lowest value of all Croatian outfield players in front of Mia Bošnjak , who remained without a hit , which corresponded to the style of play of the Croatian team with a strong offensive row and a strong defensive row with a mostly strictly implemented separation of the two rows. With Bošnjak and Mia Tupek and the respective goalkeeper Petra Lovrenčević or Saša Sladić , they formed an extremely successful defensive lineup . For their performance, the team was awarded the Nagrada Dražen Petrović ( Dražen Petrović Prize) of the Croatian Olympic Committee .
