Petra Lovrenčević (born January 21, 2001 ) is a Croatian handball goalkeeper .

Indoor handball

Petra Lovrenčević has played for the first division club RK Sesvete Agroproteinka since she was a teenager , and she is now playing in their first women's team.

Beach handball

Lovrenčević is also active as a beach handball player. Here she plays for MHC Dubrava , a team on the Croatian and European summer tour. At the EBT tournament in Moscow in 2019, the team finished second after a final defeat against the European top team Multichem Szentendrei NKE from Hungary. Lovrenčević was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament here. In 2019 she won the Croatian championship with her team.

Juniors

In Montenegro , Lovrenčević took part in the 2018 Junior European Championships (U18) for the first time as a player on the Croatian national junior team. After losing to Portugal, Croatia won the group's two subsequent games against Romania and France. In the quarter-finals they met the Netherlands again and lost in two rounds. The following two placement games against Spain and the Ukraine were lost in the shootout, which eventually put Croatia in eighth place.

In autumn, Lovrenčević reached her sporting climax to date. Although Croatia at the World Junior Championships last year in Flic-en-Flac on Mauritius not for the Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2018 from Buenos Aires could qualify, the Croatians moved to the teams of Spain and Portugal after cancellations. She shared the role of goalkeeper with Saša Sladić , but had noticeably more play. The first group game against Mauritius was clearly won. With a total of only five goals against (six points), the defense around the goalkeepers for a beach handball game against overwhelmed players from Mauritius was extremely successful. Sladić was in goal for all goals conceded, who in this game as well as against American Samoa in the further course of the tournament had significantly more play than Lovrenčević, who was primarily in goal against the stronger opponents. The Croatians also won the following two games against Russia and Taiwan and developed into a favorite for the title of this sport, which was held here for the first time as part of an Olympic tournament. After a defeat against Hungary, a victory against the team from American Samoa followed at the end of the preliminary round. Lovrenčević had a very good defense rate of 41% against Russia. In the main round, the Croatians lost against two of the other title favorites besides the Hungarians, against Argentina and the Netherlands. In both games you lost in the shootout. Against the Netherlands she still had a very good quota for a goalkeeper with 35% of throws blocked. The last group game against Paraguay was won. In the semifinals, Croatia clearly prevailed against the favored Dutch women with a win in both rounds, Lovrenčević was one of the central players for this success. In the final, Croatia could not oppose the unleashed hostesses and lost 2: 0. Lovrenčević was able to fend off three of 14 throws, while her goalkeeper Sladić could not fend off any of the eight attempts against her. With her team she won the first Olympic silver medal in beach handball. For their performance, the team was awarded the Nagrada Dražen Petrović ( Dražen Petrović Prize) of the Croatian Olympic Committee .

In 2019, Lovrenčević was appointed to the senior national team . She was part of Croatia's squad for Beach Handball Euro 2019 in Stare Jabłonki , where she shared the role of goalkeeper with Simona Hajduk . Unlike the Youth Olympic Games, Lovrenčević was now the player with fewer game shares. In a balanced preliminary group A, Croatia faced the co-favorites Netherlands and Norway and the outsiders Turkey and Romania . In addition to Lukšić, the Croatian squad included backcourt player Anja Vida Lukšić from the squad of the Youth Olympic Games, the Netherlands relied on Lisanne Bakker , Anna Buter , Amber van der Meij and Marit van Ede , and Lynn Klesser only dropped out shortly before the tournament . Turkey relied on the YOG player Dilek Yılmaz , among others . After a defeat at the beginning against Norway, a victory in the shootout against the Netherlands, a victory against Romania and Turkey followed. As third place in the preliminary round you moved into the main round. Here Hungary , Portugal and the host Polish women were defeated one after the other . With Rebeka Benzsay , Csenge Braun , Gréta Hadfi , Réka Király , Gabriella Landi and the goalkeeper Ágnes Győri, who acted as assistant coach in Buenos Aires, Hungary also relied on a team with a lot of youth Olympic experience. The Croatians were the first in the main round to advance to the semi-finals, where they met their opponents from the preliminary round, the Norwegians. Against the northern Europeans, the Croatians lost the game in two rounds. The game for third place was also lost against the Netherlands.
