Anja Vida Lukšić comes from a handball family. Her grandmother Mirjana Ognjenović won the gold medal with the Yugoslav team at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles , her uncle Miran Ognjenović was a professional in Italy and is now a coach in the first handball league in Croatia. After finishing school, she began studying at the Pharmaceutical University of Zagreb and is now studying movement science at the University of Zagreb .

Indoor handball

Lukšić initially played for ŽRK Colapis in his youth , and since 2013 for ŽRK Trešnjevka Zagreb . For ŽRK Trešnjevka she played in the top national leagues of their respective age groups, as well as in the third women's league of Croatia early on. She made her debut in the first division at the age of 16 and scored more than 150 goals in the first two years. In 2017 she and the team lost the final of the Croatian Cup against ŽRK Podravka Koprivnica . She has been playing for ŽRK Lokomotiva Zagreb since 2019 .

Lukšić has also been a beach handball player since 2016 . Here she plays for MHC Dubrava , a team on the Croatian and European summer tour. At the EBT tournament in Moscow in 2019, the team finished second after a final defeat against the European top team Multichem Szentendrei NKE from Hungary. In 2019 she won the Croatian championship with her team.

Lukšić was promoted to the Croatian youth national team in beach handball in 2016 and took part in the 2016 U-16 European Junior Championships in Nazaré . In a balanced opening group in which Portugal dominated, Croatia finished second after a clear defeat against the Portuguese despite ten points from Lukšić, a defeat against Ukraine in the shootout and a win in the last group game against Romania. The quarter-finals were lost after two hard-fought sets against Norway. In the placement games they finished sixth after beating Italy and losing to Hungary. In the Croatian team, Nika Vojnović , Rea Banić and Ana Malec were already in the squad for this tournament , while Gréta Hadfi , Csenge Braun , Rebeka Benzsay , Dorottya Gajdos , Sára Léránt and Réka Király played in the Hungarian team, and Lisanne Bakker and Lynn Klesser played in the Dutch team and Amber van der Meij . Two years later they should all be among the top players at the first Olympic appearance of beach handball.

Lukšić was again on the squad at the U-17 Junior European Championships in 2017 the following year. After defeats against Russia, Lithuania, Portugal and Spain, they won the final group game against Switzerland and came second to last in the group. Lukšić reached her sporting climax in autumn. Although Croatia at the World Junior Championships last year not for the Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2018 from Buenos Aires could qualify, the Croatians moved to the teams of Spain and Portugal after cancellations. With her team she won the first Olympic silver medal in beach handball. With 108 points, she was behind Anna Iwanowa (Russia, 116), Lynn Klesser (Netherlands, 115) and Pinchun Lin (Taiwan, 113) the fourth best scorer of the entire tournament and scored almost 40 points more than the second best Croatian Ana Malec. With this, as well as Nika Vojnović and Rea Banić , they formed a very successful attack formation with a total of 278 points. For their performance, the team was awarded the Nagrada Dražen Petrović ( Dražen Petrović Prize) of the Croatian Olympic Committee .

In 2019, Lukšić was appointed to the senior national team . She was part of Croatia's squad for Beach Handball Euro 2019 in Stare Jabłonki , where she quickly developed into a mainstay of the team. In a balanced preliminary group A, Croatia faced the co-favorites Netherlands and Norway and the outsiders Turkey and Romania .
