Vasilios Xanthopoulos ( Greek Βασίλης Ξανθόπουλος , born April 29, 1984 in Athens ) is a Greek basketball player who plays in the position of point guard at a height of 1.86 m .

Career

Vasilios Xanthopoulos gained his first experience as a basketball player in the youth division of Olympiacos , which he joined in 1997 at the age of 13. Four years later he moved in 2001 to the Piraikos amateur club, also based in Piraeus, where he stayed for one season. In 2002 he went to the Athens first division club Niar Ist, where he made 50 first division appearances in two years and had an average of 6.6 points. In the summer of 2004, Xanthopoulos moved to the Greek record champions Panathinaikos Athens , where he was able to win the Greek championship and the cup straight away . Because Xanthopoulos was only used sporadically in view of the great competition (nine appearances - 1.8 points on average), he was loaned out to PAOK Thessaloniki for the 2005/2006 season to give him the opportunity to gain match practice. In the 2006/2007 season Xanthopoulos belonged again to the squad of Panathinaikos, where he managed the triple . After holding positions at Panionios and Panellinios , he returned to Panathinaikos in 2012.
