Vassenden is a village in Sunnfjord municipality in Vestland Province , Norway .
The place is on the European route 39 at the western end of the lake Jølstravatnet , where the river Jølstra begins.
The village has a district size of 0.37 km² and 374 inhabitants (2013). The village has a parish church built in 2002, a school, a supermarket and a museum.
A tourist attraction is the rafting center on Jølstra. The typical tour begins in Vassenden and goes about a mile downstream. The regional ski area in Sunnfjord, Jølster Skisenter, is located in Vassenden, as is the only golf course in Sogn og Fjordane.
