The Jølstra is a river in the municipality of Sunnfjord in Fylke Vestland in western Norway. The river is 22 kilometers long and forms the outflow from Lake Jølstravatnet . The Jølstra has an average flow rate of 43.9 m³ per second. The highest amount was 256 m³ per second, the lowest 1.2 m³ per second.

The Jølstra begins at Jølstravatnet in Vassenden, at an altitude of 207 m above sea level. From there the river runs in a westerly direction, accompanied by the European route 39 . The Langhaugane settlement is crossed and the Jølstra continues in a south-westerly direction. After a few kilometers, the Fv13 crosses the river . To the north of the river lies the Sunnfjord Museum . Then the European route 39 crosses the Jølstra. The river passes the place Bruland , flows through the city of Førde and then flows into the Førdefjord .
