Vassilis Krommidas (born July 4, 1970 in Thessaloniki ) is a former Greek triathlete and two-time Olympian (2000, 2004).

Career

Vassilis Krommidas started swimming at the age of 10 and became a member of the national team. He studied at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki .

Vassilis Krommidas switched to triathlon in 1989. In 1995 he finished second in the Allgäu Triathlon in the middle distance. When he was 21 at the time, he started his first long distance in Roth in 1991. In the next year he was able to improve his time by an hour and finished tenth in the Ironman Europe (3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42 km running).

2000 Summer Olympics

At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, he finished 33rd.
In 2004 he started again at the Summer Olympics, but could not finish the race in Athens after a technical defect on the bike.

Greek champion triathlon sprint distance 2014

In 2014, Vassilis Krommidas became Greek champion on the triathlon sprint distance. In the same year he was runner-up on the duathlon short distance.
Krommidas is 70 times national champion.

He has not appeared internationally since 2014.

Vassilis Krommidas works as a trainer and coach and he led the national team of Greece and Cyprus.
