Vatuo ( Vatuu , Vatu'u , Fatu'u ) is a place on the Southeast Asian island of Atauro , which belongs to East Timor ( Suco Biqueli , Atauro administrative office , Dili municipality ).

Vatuo Protestant Church

There is a Protestant church in Vatuo. In contrast to the rest of East Timor, the population in the north of Atauros is Protestant and not Catholic. Most residents give Dadu'a as their mother tongue, a dialect of Wetar .

Vatuo Beach

Vatuo is located on the northwest coast of Atauro Island. The shore is a mixture of white sand and gravel. Coral reefs lie off the coast and are ideal for diving. Here the small marine fish Helcogramma atauroensis was discovered by scientists and described for the first time in 2017.
