Map of the Tangra Mountains with Vazov Rock |
The Vazov Rock (English; Bulgarian Вазов камък Wasow kamak ) is a rocky mountain over 200 m high on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . At the southern branch of the crescent-shaped Peshev Ridge in the Tangra Mountains, it rises 1.25 km south-southeast of the main summit of Peshev Ridge, 3.5 km west to south of Aytos Point and 2.5 km northeast of Samuel Point . The Bojana Glacier lies to the east and northeast, Vazov Point to the south and Brunow Bay to the southwest of it.
The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named the mountain in 2004 based on the name of the headland of the same name . Its namesake is the Bulgarian writer Ivan Wasow (1850–1921).
