Veit Innerkofler

Veit Innerkofler (born June 15, 1856 in Sexten ; † March 15, 1935 there ) was a Tyrolean farmer and, like other family members, a mountain guide .

Life

Veit Innerkofler was able to carry out about 20 first ascents and first ascents in the Dolomites and is therefore one of the most important developers of this mountain range. He was also an important teacher of his more famous brother Sepp . He became particularly famous for the first ascent of the north face of the Kleiner Zinne , which he was able to realize in 1890 together with Sepp Innerkofler. It was the first route in these mountains that did not lead to the summit by the easiest route and was considered one of the most difficult tours of its time. He was also able to climb the east face of the Zwölferkofel with his brother for the first time. Despite his old age, he still fought as a captain of the Standschützen during the First World War .
