Venâncio Aires is a city with 71,554 inhabitants (estimate as of 2019) in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil . It is located about 130 km northwest of Porto Alegre . Neighboring are the towns of Boqueirão do Leão , Santa Clara do Sul , Sério (N), Mato Leitão , Cruzeiro do Sul , Bom Retiro do Sul (O), General Câmara , Taquari , Passo do Sobrado , Vale Verde (S) and Santa Cruz do Sul (W).
Venâncio Aires is called the "capital of the Chimarrão ".
