The mutable oil beetle ( Mylabris variabilis ) is a beetle from the family of oil beetles (Meloidae).

features

The beetles are 7 to 16 millimeters long. They are very similar to the Pannonian oil beetle ( Mylabris pannonica ) and also have yellow-brown elytra with wide, black, wavy crossbars. In contrast to the similar species, they wear a black band at the end of the abdomen.

Occurrence

The animals occur frequently in the Mediterranean area up to the Pannonian Danube basin to Hungary and the Czech Republic . But they are also found in Austria . They fly from June to September.
