Verbascosid , also Acteosid , is a naturally occurring chemical compound, a so-called phenylpropanoid, that is, a glycoside whose aglycon is a phenylpropanoid . This is a glycosidic compound with glucose and rhamnose as the sugar component and with a 3,4-dihydroxyphenyl-1-hydroxyethanol and a 3,4-dihydroxyphenylcinnamic acid residue ( caffeic acid ) on the glucose building block.
It is found in various plants, such as: B. in Harpagophytum procumbens (devil's claw) or in the bluebell tree .
Acteosid, like the flavonoids , has antioxidant, antimicrobial and antihypertensive properties.
