The medal of merit for the volunteers of the Italian-Austrian war 1915-1918 ( it. Medaglia di benemerenza per i volontari della Guerra Italo-austriaca 1915-1918 ) was an award of the Kingdom of Italy , which on May 24, 1923 by decree No. 1163 by Umberto I. was donated in one step.

Appearance and wearing style

The bronze medal shows the right-facing head bust of the goddess Italia on its obverse, surrounded by the inscription PER L´ITALIA (For Italy). The lapel , on the other hand, shows a naked man in the middle, facing the sky, holding a round Roman shield in his left hand and a sword pointing outwards in his right hand. Behind his right arm is a mother who looks up at his son and hugs his right arm. This symbolism is surrounded by the inscription .VOLONTARI.DI.GVERRA (Volunteers of the War). The medal was worn on the upper left chest of the borrower on a malino-red ribbon.
