The constitutional referendum in the Republic of Upper Volta was held on November 27, 1977. A military coup followed in 1974 and was intended to restore multi-party democracy.

The new constitution retained the presidential system of government and limited the number of political parties to three - the three parties with the highest number of voters in the upcoming fourth parliamentary election would remain eligible, other parties would be excluded. The new constitution was adopted with a turnout of 71.6% by 98.7% of the electorate.
