The publishing house Theodor Steinkopff Dresden was a publishing house in the German Reich and in the GDR , in which mainly specialist books and journals were published.

The publishing house was founded on January 1st, 1908 by Theodor Steinkopff and was based in Dresden . The publishing house also had a branch in Leipzig . In its program, the publisher dedicated itself particularly to the topic of colloid chemistry . In addition, medical books and other scientific publications appeared. From 1937 the publishing house ran the archive for circulatory research .

After the Second World War the publishing house remained in Dresden. Its program continued to consist primarily of medical publications and geological guides. In addition, among other things, the archive for tumor research - organ for cancer research, fight against cancer and cancer statistics with up to four issues per volume and up to two volumes per year appeared as a journal. The publishing house was dissolved in 1978 .

At the same time there was the publishing house of the same name in the Federal Republic - originally founded by Dietrich Steinkopff in Wiesbaden as a branch. In 1980 this was taken over by Julius Springer Verlag and initially continued. In 2010 Springer merged several of its individual medical publishers - including Steinkopff Verlag - under the umbrella brand Springer Medizin . The books and journals published in the Steinkopff program up to the end of 2009 then appeared under Springer Medicine .
