definition

A traffic unit corresponds to one passenger with hand luggage or 100 kg of air freight or mail .

In rail traffic, a traffic unit is equated with a passenger- kilometer or a tonne - kilometer .

description

In air traffic, the volume of traffic is usually used as a statistical variable . In rail traffic, the traffic work (traffic volume times the distance covered) is used as a statistical value as a standard . This can also be seen in the different definitions used in rail and air transport.

The different ratios between air passenger to air freight (1 person: 100 kg) and passenger to rail freight (1 person: 1,000 kg) result from the approximate revenue ratios between passenger and freight traffic in the two modes of transport .
