Transfiguration Cathedral (Kryvyi Rih)

The Savior Transfiguration Cathedral ( Ukrainian Спасо-Преображенський кафедральний собор ; Russian Спасо-Преображенский кафедральный собор / Spasso Preopraschenski kathedralni Sobor ) in the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih , is an Orthodox church in the style of Ukrainian neo-baroque.
The cathedral is the central place of worship and bishop's seat of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Moscow Patriarchate of the Eparchy Krywyj Rih - Nikopol and is located on a hill at 1 Cathedral Street ( ул. Соборная ) in Kryvyi Rih.
Church building
Construction of the cathedral began in 1989, with the design and construction of the church being carried out by the Kiev architect Aleksandr Petrosjuk ( Александр Петросюк ). On July 15, 2003, the cathedral was consecrated to commemorate the Transfiguration of the Lord . The church has a footprint of 33 x 33 and a height of 43 meters. It has 9 domes in honor of 9 flocks of angels and has space for 3000 worshipers.
The neighboring bell tower was built from October 2004 to October 2005 and is 48 meters high. There is a library on its ground floor. On its fourth and top floor there are 22 bells, the largest of which weighs 1400 kg.

The Kryvyi Rih-Nikopol Eparchy , whose seat is the cathedral, includes the following deaneries in the west of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast : North Kryvyi Rih, South Kryvyi Rih, Kryvyi Rih District, Kryvyi Rih Hospital Church Deanery, Nikopol City, Nikopol District, Apostolowe , Schowti Vody , Sofijiwka , Tomakivka and Schyroke .
