The Loth Loriën is a three-masted barquentine under Dutch flag .

history

The ship ran in 1907 as hull number 33 of the shipyard Mjellem & Karlsen in mountains with the name Njord from the stack . The client of the ship, delivered in July 1907 as a steel logger, was the company P. Th. Sandborg A / S from Ålesund . Originally the Njord was 28.83 meters long, 5.79 meters wide, and had a side height of 2.80 meters. The fishing vessel, measured with 109 gross register tons, had a composite steam engine with an output of 14 nominal hp and a schooner sails that was manufactured by the shipyard . In 1930 the ship was lengthened to 32.58 meters, with the measurement increasing to 124 GRT. From 1931 the company A / S Njørd from B. Runde in Ålesund operated the ship and the name changed to Njörd , or Njørd in the register . In the early 1950s, the measurement increased to 130 GRT. In 1952 the steam engine was replaced by an eight-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine manufactured in 1947 by the manufacturer RA Lister from Dursley with an output of 280 hp. In the same year B. Runde had the vehicle transferred to Havfiskeselskapet A / S Njørd in Ålesund, and from 1957 Jac. M. Remø in Ålesund. In 1962 the vehicle was foreclosed by Statens Fiskarbank and sold to Oskar Thu on Valderøya in August 1963 . Two years later, the Njørd received a five-cylinder Alpha Diesel with 425 hp as the main engine. In 1974 Andreas Karlsen from Vedavågen acquired the ship and used it as a trawler. In the 1970s the ship was registered and laid up on Kolbein Karlsen in Vedavågen . In June 1982 the trailer was first sold to Steinar Vea and shortly afterwards to the Netherlands.

Around 1989 the current owner took over the ship and had it converted to the staysail ketch Loth Loriën . Since then the ship has been rebuilt several times. So there was another renovation in 1992. With more modern rigging and new interior fittings, the ship has since been used as a charter ship. In 2001/2002 the hull was lengthened again and the ship converted into a three-masted gaff schooner. In 2008/2009 it was re- rigged to the barquentine. The ship is mainly sailing in German and Danish waters.

For day trips, the Loth Loriën offers space for up to 90 passengers. For weekend or longer sailing trips, there are cabins for up to 36 fellow sailors. There is space for 50 people in the salon. The crew allows interested fellow sailors to actively participate in sailing on request.
