Trimethylsilyl isocyanate is a chemical compound from the isocyanate group .
Extraction and presentation
Trimethylsilyl isocyanate can be obtained by reacting trimethylsilyl chloride with potassium cyanate .
It can also be obtained from the corresponding methylchlorosilane and silver cyanate or lead cyanate .

Trimethylsilyl isocyanate is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor that hydrolyzes in water and in humid air .
use
Trimethylsilyl isocyanate is used for the conversion of isocyanates into carbodiimides with cyclopentadienyl Fe (CO) 2 or -Mn (CO) 3 catalysts. It is also used for the carbamoylation of aromatic hydrocarbons and alcohols .
