According to the United States Census Bureau , the area is 16.8 square kilometers, of which 16.5 square kilometers are land and 0.3 square kilometers (2.15%) are water.

Demographics

According to the 2000 census, there were 170 residents, 66 households and 41 families in Verlot. The population density was 10.3 inhabitants per square kilometer. There were 96 residential units at an average density of 5.8 per square kilometer. Of the population, 98.24 percent were white , 0.59 percent Indians , 0.59 percent Asian and 0.59 percent belonged to two or more "races" . Hispanics or Latinos of "any race" made up 1.18 percent of the total population.

There were 66 households out of which 34.8 percent were hosting children under the age of eighteen; 48.5 percent were led by married couples living together and 12.1 percent by single women. 36.4 percent were non-families. 21.2 percent of all households were singles and three percent had single people over 65 years of age. The average household size was 2.58 people, with families it was 3.1 people.

The age distribution in the village was as follows: 29.4 percent under 18, 7.1 percent from 18 to 24, 30 percent from 25 to 44, 26.5 percent from 45 to 64 and 7.1 percent over 65 years. The median age was 39 years. There were 100 men for every 100 women, and 114.3 men for every 100 women over the age of 18.

All information on median income relates to the median. The median income for a household was $ 29,519 and for families it was $ 27,692. Males had a median income of $ 90,957 versus $ 46,250 for women. The per capita income was $ 13,205. About 20.7 percent of families and 33.5 percent of the total population lived below the poverty line , including 47.1 percent of those under the age of 18 and 30 percent of those over 65.
