Vermil is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in northern Portugal .
Vermil belongs to the Guimarães county in the Braga district . The community had an area of 2.3 km² and 1147 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011). The community is predominantly urban.
On September 29, 2013, the parishes of Vermil, Airão (São João Baptista) and Airão (Santa Maria) merged to form the new congregation União das Freguesias de Airão Santa Maria, Airão São João e Vermil .
