Vernissage was a progressive metal - band from the Lower Rhine city Krefeld . It was founded in 1991 and published its first two demos Vernissage and Candide in 1996. The music on the second demo was rated by Eternity Magazine as “sophisticated Power Metal”.

The debut album Intensiv , announced for 1997, was released in 1998 via AFM Records . From Assisted proggen was considered a "little surprise" that two of the 14 songs German lyrics have. Nevertheless, despite “really interesting approaches” and “well-crafted music”, a lack of catchiness was criticized.

Due to internal tensions with the singer, the band broke up in the late 1990s. Thereupon guitarist Jens Pesch, bassist Bernd Gross and drummer Klaus Spangenberg founded the thrash metal band Blood Red Angel , also based in Krefeld, together with the former Ferngully guitarist Robert Balner , in which Spangenberg switched to the position of singer.
