Daniel Humm
Daniel Humm (* 1976 in Strengelbach ) is a Swiss chef, restaurant and hotel owner.
He is chef de cuisine and co-owner of the three-star Eleven Madison Park restaurant in New York City . It is the highest ranked restaurant in the United States and has been named the best restaurant in the United States by the James Beard Foundation . In 2017 it came in first place in The World's 50 Best Restaurants .
Life
Daniel Humm began his four-year cooking apprenticeship at the age of 14. After graduating, he worked for Gérard Rabaey in the restaurant Le Pont de Brent , which was awarded three Michelin stars . He found his first position as head chef in the Gasthaus zum Gupf in Rehetobel ( Appenzell Ausserrhoden ), which was awarded a Michelin star under him.
In 2003 he went to San Francisco and became Chef de Cuisine at Campton Place . In 2006 Daniel Humm moved to Eleven Madison Park in New York , which he became the top-rated restaurant in the USA. In 2011, the Michelin Guide was increased from one star to three. Since 2012, Humm has been co-owner of the Hotel NoMad in New York, which is listed with one star in the Michelin Guide .
In 2017 Eleven Madison Park was named The World's 50 Best Restaurants .
He plans to open the Davies and Brook restaurant at Claridge's Hotel in London in mid-2019 . The restaurant name refers to the place, namely Davies Street and Brook Street in the district of Mayfair .
