Vernon Reese was born on April 23, 1910 and began his footballing career as a child during the First World War . In 1926, when he was still young, he organized a soccer team that ran under the name Rinky Dinks . He later played in the Greater Baltimore Soccer League in the 13th Division , a league that in all likelihood was formed in the early 1920s. In 1929 he played for the Baltimore Soccer Club , which is also considered the earliest known club to win a Baltimore league. The team appeared in the aforementioned Greater Baltimore Soccer League , with Vernon Reese ending his playing career in 1938 after a knee injury after he had only played for the Baltimore Soccer Club up to this point. Subsequently, in the same year he started a soccer clinic in Patterson Park in the southeast of Baltimore, which he ran every Sunday until 1982, and thus for 44 years. He also founded the Football League of the Catholic Youth Organization in 1958 , which was established in 1930 by Bishop Bernard James Sheil in Chicago . At the beginning there were eight teams in this league; In 1983 she already had 160 different teams. In 1957 Reese was inducted into the Maryland Soccer Hall of Fame ; the same year he was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in the Official category . After Millard Lang in 1950 and Alfredda Iglehart in 1951, he was the third person from Maryland to be inducted into this hall of fame. Vernon Reese, one of the greatest football teachers in the region, died in January 1995 in his hometown of Baltimore, at the age of 84.
