Veronika Skuplik

Veronika Skuplik (* 1964 ) is a German violinist and conductor specializing in historical performance practice .

Life

Veronika Skuplik started learning the violin at the age of 9. In her youth, choir singing was a musically formative experience for her. She began studying music at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen and with Thomas Albert at the Academy for Early Music (now the Bremen University of the Arts ). In 1991 she received her diploma there with a major in baroque violin . She then studied German language and literature , musicology and education for a few semesters in Münster .

Veronika Skuplik is mainly active in solo ensembles such as the “ Concerto Palatino ”, the “Ensemble Movimento”, “L'Arpeggiata” and “ Cantus Cölln ”. As concert master or musical director, she appears with the ensembles “La Stravaganza Köln”, the “Holland Baroque Society”, with the “Cleveland Baroque Orchestra” (2011) and the Bremen Baroque Soloists. She prefers the repertoire of the 17th century. Concert tours and recordings have taken Veronika Skuplik, who lives in Oldenburg, across Europe, Israel and the USA. In 2011 Veronika Skuplik was “Artist in Residence” at the “Festival Oude Muziek” in Utrecht and in 2012 at the “Festivalul de Muzică Veche” in Timișoara .

Veronika Skuplik has been a lecturer for baroque violin at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen since 1997, she also taught at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg , she led masterclasses and orchestral projects at the music academies in Utrecht and Malmö, as well as in Madison and Oberlin (USA). She also deals with the rehearsal of baroque and classical works with modern orchestras under the aspects of historical performance practice.

Recordings

Their discography includes around 70 CDs with the labels Teldec, Alpha, Harmonia Mundi France, Ramée, Carus, CPO and others. a. In 2008 Veronika Skuplik produced a CD for Chrismon with the Ensemble Chelycus on the subject of How beautifully does the morning star shine . In 2014 she released her first solo CD VIOLINO with anonymous Austrian violin sonatas from around 1680 on the fra bernardo label .
