Veronique Marot

Veronique Marot ( Véronique Marot ; born September 16, 1955 in Compiègne ) is a former English long-distance runner of French origin, who was particularly successful in the marathon .

In 1984 she finished fourth in the London Marathon and second in the New York City Marathon . In 1985 she set a British record as fifth in the Chicago Marathon with 2:28:04.

In 1987 she finished third in London and fourth in the Tokyo International Women's Marathon .

In 1989 she celebrated her greatest triumph: She won the London Marathon and set a British record with 2:25:56, which Paula Radcliffe would only break 13 years later.

She won the Houston Marathon three times (1986, 1989, 1991). In 1991 and 1992 she won the Around the Bay Road Race . In her first win, she set the current British record in the 30 km road race with 1:48:52 .

Véronique Marot works as a lawyer and is still a hobby runner. In 2003 she won the F45 age group at the London Marathon in a time of 2:55:01 (28th overall).
