Treaty of Stuhmsdorf
The Treaty of Stuhmsdorf of September 12, 1635 was an armistice between the Republic of Poland-Lithuania and the Kingdom of Sweden . The contract was signed in Stuhmsdorf (Polish Sztumska Wieś ) near Stuhm in Royal Prussia .
The treaty extended the Altmark armistice , which was initially limited to six years and ended the Swedish-Polish wars 1600–1629 , by 26 years. In addition, the “possession” of Swedish Livonia with Riga was confirmed to the Swedish crown . The Swedish side waived the conquests of King Gustav Adolf in Royal and Ducal Prussia , as well as the required customs duties from the ports, for example from Danzig . Hermann von Wrangel then vacated Pillau and was confirmed in his function as Governor General of Livonia .
The Treaty of Stuhmsdorf was broken in 1655 with the beginning of the Second Northern War by the Swedes under their King Karl X. Gustav .
