The Kamenz-Schönteichen administrative association was an administrative association in the Free State of Saxony in the Bautzen district . It was located in the northwest of the district, about 40 km northeast of the state capital Dresden . The community area is located in western Upper Lusatia at the foot of the Hutberg in the western Lusatian hills and mountains. The area is the border between the flat pond landscape in the north and the Lausitzer Bergland in the south. The city of Kamenz is traversed by the Black Elster . The federal motorway 4 runs south of the community area and can be reached via the Burkau junction.
On January 1, 2019, the community of Schönteichen was dissolved and the districts to Kamenz were incorporated, with the result that the administrative community was dissolved. Last (as of December 31, 2017) it had 16,845 inhabitants on an area of 98.3 km², the last administrative chairman was Roland Dantz, Lord Mayor of Kamenz.
