History and courthouse

Wilhelmshöhe Castle

The Kassel Administrative Court was founded on June 16, 1946. Since the city center of Kassel was largely destroyed after the Second World War , the administrative court was initially set up together with the Hessian administrative court and the district president in Wilhelmshöhe Palace. At the beginning of December 1950 the court moved to the former imperial hunter barracks near Frankfurter Strasse . In December 1952, the Administrative Court moved back together with the Administrative Court in a new building on Brüder-Grimm-Platz . As the court expanded, it was moved to buildings on Friedrichstrasse and Königstor . In 1986 the administrative court finally moved completely into a building on Tischbeinstrasse . Since November 2018, the administrative court has again been located under one roof with the administrative court in the new Specialized Court Center Goethestrasse .
