The administrative association Grüner Grund was an administrative association in the Erzgebirgskreis in the Free State of Saxony . Administrative associations are corporations under public law to which the associated municipalities have voluntarily delegated various administrative tasks.

The area of ​​the administrative association extended from the valley of the middle Zschopau south of the town of the same name over the side valleys of the Wilisch and Drebaches to the ridges between Wilisch and Drebach as well as Drebach and Zschopau. From the Zschopau ( 340  m above sea  level ) the terrain rises steeply in parts and reaches 600 m above sea level between Drebach and Ehrenfriedersdorf . NN.

The administrative association was founded in 1994 by the municipalities of Drebach, Grießbach, Hopfgarten , Scharfenstein and Venusberg. He had legal capacity since March 18, 1994. On October 1, 1998, Hopfgarten left the association when it was incorporated into Großolbersdorf . Venusberg and Grießbach merged on January 1, 1999 to form the new municipality of Venusberg. On January 1, 2005, Scharfenstein was incorporated into Drebach. With the merger of the municipalities of Drebach and Venusberg to form the new municipality of Drebach, the administrative association was dissolved on January 1, 2010.

The area of ​​the administrative association covered 32.74 km², on which 5,739 inhabitants lived (December 31, 2008).

The chairman of the association was the former mayor and later mayor of Scharfenstein Wolfgang Volkmann from 1994 to 2009.
