Veselinovac ( Serbian Cyrillic : Веселиновац) is a village in western Serbia .
Surname
The name of the village is derived from the first inhabitant of the area, Veselin Aleksić . The Aleksićs have descendants in the village to this day. The name Veselin is a male Slavic given name.
geography
The village is located in Opština Valjevo , in Okrug Kolubara in the historic Podgorina region in western central Serbia . Veselinovac lies partly on the west side of the high slope Oštrikovac , which together with the slope Slovacki degree the Kolubara - gorge formed. This canyon is known as Suteska .
The place is at the opening of the gorge and on the right bank of the Kolubara. The area around the place is otherwise rather flat and there are many forests in the village area. Most of the village houses stand close together at the point where the Oštrikovac slope descends most gently towards the Kolubara valley.
Veselinovac is about 60 km southwest of the Serbian capital Belgrade and about 15 km east of the municipal capital Valjevo .

Veselinovac had 204 inhabitants at the 2011 census, compared to 240 in 2002. According to the last three population statistics, the number of inhabitants continues to fall. The population is made up of Serbs .

history
Veselinovac was not listed in the Ottoman tax books. Until 1872 Veselinovac was considered a hamlet of the village Loznica . It was not until 1874 that it was listed as an independent village with 192 inhabitants. Both villages are still in good communion today. In 1884 the place had 232 inhabitants. The old name of the village was Veselinovci .
In the early 20th century Veselinovac was known for its vegetable and fruit cultivation, especially the melons of the village itself were valued in Valjevo. During the great May floods ( Balkan Deep Yvette ), the old bridge over the Kolubara in the village was destroyed, the bridge was rebuilt a year later.
religion
The population of Veselinovac professes the Serbian Orthodox Church . The common village cemetery with the village of Loznica is located on the slope Oštrikovac. When Slava of the village which is considered Tomina Nedelya (the first week after Orthodox Easter ).
