Vesna Cvjetković Kurelec (born November 26, 1954 in Dubrovnik ) is a Croatian politician and diplomat .

Life

From 1961 to 1972 she attended an elementary school and a high school in Athens . From 1973 to 1980 he studied theater studies and Slavic studies with a subsequent doctorate at the University of Vienna . At the same time, she worked for the Dubrovnik Summer Festival from 1974 to 1979 and taught at the Vienna Adult Education Center from 1974 to 1980 . She then worked from 1980 to 1985 as director of the archive and the museum of the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb. At the same time, she had a teaching position for literary theory at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Zagreb from 1982 to 1985 . Between 1985 and 2000 she worked as an assistant, research assistant and university lecturer at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Zagreb in the field of Classical Philology. At the same time, he studied general linguistics from 1986 to 1988 and from 1987 to 1989 a master's degree in philology at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Zagreb. In 1997 she did her doctorate there again. From 1993 to 1997 she also worked as a consultant for Croatia for the Friedrich Naumann Foundation . From 1997 to 2000 she was also the editor of the magazine Odvjetnik of the Croatian Bar Association.

In 1990 she joined the Croatian Social-Liberal Party (HSLS), which was classified as a conservative-liberal , in which she held various functions and also ran for elections, albeit unsuccessfully.

From 2000 to 2003 she was Croatian Deputy Foreign Minister. From 2003 to 2008 she worked as Croatian ambassador in Germany . From 2008 to 2012 she was ambassador to Athens in Greece and also to Armenia and Georgia . She then was Secretary General of the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs until 2015.

She is married and has one son. In addition to Croatian , she also speaks German , Greek and English . In addition, there is a knowledge of French and Italian .
