The Vestvorren ( Norwegian for Weststeg ) is the western of two neighboring mountain ridges , which extend from the Neumayer steep face in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land in a northerly direction. The other is the Austvorren .

Aerial photos were taken during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Norwegian cartographers gave the formation its descriptive name and mapped it on the basis of measurements and aerial photographs of the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–1952) and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960).
