Vettor Pisani (* 1324 ; † 1380 ) was a Venetian admiral .

In 1378 Pisani commanded the Venetian fleet in the naval battle of Anzio , where he defeated the Genoese. Then he conquered Cattaro , Sebenico and Arbe , which had been occupied by the Hungarians allied with Genoa . In May 1379 Pisani was defeated by the Genoese in the sea ​​battle at Pola , which is why he was thrown in prison in his hometown. When the Genoese threatened Venice in the Chioggia War , the people demanded his release.

In February 1380 he defeated Luciano Doria's Genoese fleet in the Brontolo Canal and then retook Chioggia in June after heavy fighting . Pisani established Venice's supremacy in the Mediterranean . He died of an illness in 1380 and was buried with full honors in the church of S. Antonio in Venice.

Centuries later, Napoleon's troops ravaged the church, which is why his grave is now in the Church of San Zanipolo .

His statue is number 14 on the Prato della Valle in Padua .
