history
The club was founded in June 1906 as FC Germania Immigrath and merged with TV Langenfeld in 1919 to form TSV Langenfeld . A little later, on February 25, 1921, the next merger with FC Germania Reusrath took place . The name of this association is unknown, the union was dissolved again on July 11, 1921. In 1923 the football department of TSV became independent as VfB Langenfeld-Immigrath 06 and later renamed itself to VfB Langenfeld . From 1941 to 1945 the VfB formed a war sports community with the TSF Richrath under the name KSG Langenfeld-Richrath .
The first men's team was promoted to the then third-class Oberliga Nordrhein in 1986 , the highest amateur league. As a newcomer, VfB did surprisingly well and ended the season with 37:31 points in seventh place in the table. The success attracted an average of 1,042 spectators in the 17 home games on Jahnplatz. In the following season VfB could only just hold the class as 15th and then rose in 1988/89 as table-17. back out of the league. Meanwhile, the average attendance had dropped from 705 to 678.
The descent from the Oberliga, which was preceded by the loss of the sponsor, was followed by a rapid descent, which initially led to the district league, where the former 2nd team played. The first team reached a good second place in the district league in the 2003/04 season and only just missed promotion. Since relegation in the 2004/05 season, the first team has only been represented in circular play.
