The VfB Eisleben was a German football club from Eisleben in today Mansfeld-Südharz , which existed from 1909 to 1945. Home of the club was the sports field at the Zellermühle .
Athletic career
VfB Eisleben was founded in 1909 under the name Club for Movement Games 1909 Eisleben , no further name changes were made until the club was dissolved. The VfB played from 1913 within the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs in the Gauliga Grafschaft Mansfeld , which could be won twice. After the Gauliga was dissolved in 1917, the club moved to the Gauliga Kyffhäuser . The greatest successes in the club's history were reaching the final round of the Central German Championship four times, in which VfB Eisleben was eliminated prematurely.
In the Central German finals, Eisleben lost in the 1913/14 season for the first time in the first round against SC Erfurt with 0:14. In the 1923/24 , 1926/27 and 1927/28 seasons, the club again reached the Central German football finals, but were eliminated in the first round against SpVgg 05 Naumburg (1: 2), Schwarz-Gelb Weißenfels (2: 4) and the VfB Erfurt (3: 5 nV) from.
In the period that followed, with the introduction of the Gauligen until 1945, the club no longer played a higher-class role in central German football, and participation in the Gauliga Mitte , introduced in 1933, was no longer achieved on a sporting level.
In 1945 the VfB Eisleben was dissolved, an immediate re-establishment in the form of a sports community was not carried out in the Soviet Zone .
