The Gauliga Grafschaft Mansfeld (also 1st class Grafschaft Mansfeld ) was one of the top football leagues of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs (VMBV). It was created in 1913 and existed until it was incorporated into the Gau Kyffhäuser in 1917. The winner qualified for the finals of the Central German soccer championship .

overview

The exact founding date of the Gau Grafschaft Mansfeld has not been passed down, since the 1913/14 season there were association games with five participants for the first time. The division into leagues for the 1914/15 season was completed in July 1914, but due to the outbreak of the First World War , there was no game operation that season. In 1915/16 the game was resumed with four teams. The clubs from Sangerhausen were assigned to the Gau Grafschaft Mansfeld by the Gau Kyffhäuser at the end of November 1916. On October 1st, 1917 the Gaue Grafschaft Mansfeld and Kyffhäuser merged, the Gau kept the name Kyffhäusers.

VfB Eisleben won the first edition of the County of Mansfeld . During the war seasons, FC Hohenzollern Helfta and again VfB Eisleben were able to become Gaumeister.

classification

The excessive number of first-class Gauligen within the VMBV had caused a dilution of the game level, there were sometimes double-digit results in the Central German football finals. The clubs from Gauliga Grafschaft Mansleben were among the weakest clubs in the association. If there was no participation in the final round, the first round could be survived. In 1913/14 Eisleben clearly lost in the first round with 0:14 against SC Erfurt . Helfta was also eliminated in the first round in 1915/16 after an 8-0 defeat against Borussia Halle . In 1916/17 , the Gaumeister Mansleben was not even approved by the association for the Central German football finals for unknown reasons.

After merging with Gauliga Kyffhäuser, the clubs from the former Gau Grafschaft Mansfeld could hold their own, VfB Eisleben was another three times Gaumeister Kyffhäusers.
